Nurturing Local Talent
Through Employer Partnerships
Local employer engagement is essential when we deliver these courses and we asked Diane from Springfield Properties for her thoughts on being involved.
Diane said:
"With demand for over 250,000 additional workers in the next five years, construction has always needed—and will always need—new talent. The Construction Skills course is an excellent stepping stone into sustainable employment or further training for local people in our industry. It was a privilege to support the programme and help keep the talent pipeline flowing. Participants excelled in mock interviews, and I wish them all future success."
From School to
Study and Work
Maisy joined Moray SWAP after leaving school and working with her Keyworker to get support and advice on her next steps.
Maisy applied for National 5 Maths at UHI Moray and also received CV support and interview preparation. Maisy has now been offered a part time job at Cornerstone in Buckie to work alongside studying her course.
Maisy said:
"The weekly support was useful for me to update my CV and look for and apply for jobs. I’m really looking forward to starting my new job at Cornerstone as a Support Practitioner and learn new skills while still doing my Maths."
Path to
Government Employment
Through Employer Partnerships
After returning to education, to complete a course in Digital Media Rebecca was struggling with personal circumstances and could not gain employment. After joining Moray SWAP and receiving support she has secured a job starting in November, as Administration Officer for the Scottish Government, Rural and Agriculture Farming.
Rebecca said:
"I found the service very helpful, since coming onto the project I have been able to achieve qualifications and participate in courses I would not have had opportunities to do which I feel has helped me to progress personally and professionally, towards achieving sustainable employment."
